EUGENE WASKIN With sorrow in our hearts, and his children at his side, we are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our dad at the Victoria Hospital on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the age of 79. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lillian of 56 years, son Craig (Joanne), daughter Carole (Colin Demianyk), and grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Waskin, Alexandrea and Bryan Demianyk. He was predeceased by his father, Michael Waskin (January 1946) and mother, Katherine Chmielowski (April 2005). Dad was born March 10, 1926 at home and grew up in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg. As a young man, he had a great love of sports, and was an active participant on many teams. He played football for his high school, Lord Selkirk, junior baseball for Morse Place, and junior hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs. Later on, Dad was an active bowler in several leagues, and a Little League baseball coach at Northwood C.C. Up until his last days, Dad was an avid sports fan, following the Blue Bombers and virtually any sporting event he could find on television. In 1949, he met and married his beloved wife Lillian, and settled in north Winnipeg for their time together. He was employed with Northern Electric for 26 years as a sales clerk, but his greatest joy was time spent specifically with family and friends. Dad enjoyed a good game of cribbage, and always enjoyed fishing with family to see who could 'catch the big one'. Mom and Dad always loved to travel, with numerous trips early on motoring across both western Canada and the US. Later on, their scope of travel broadened to include a number of visits to southern Europe, the Caribbean and Mexico. Dad cherished time spent with his grandchildren, and took special interest in watching them grow up. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in the afternoon at Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. We love you and miss you, Vichnaya Pamyat. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
