MICHAEL MAKSYMYK June 17, 1935 - November 20, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Maksymyk with his loving family beside him. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, he leaves to mourn his loving wife Dolly; his children, Sherry (Ted), Kevin (Yolanda), Brenda (Richard), Angie (Ken), Kim (David); his grandchildren, Christopher (Deanne), Stephanie (Kelly), Nicholas, B.J., Cody, Shawn, Kyle, Heather and Harry; and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Aidan; sisters, Mary Pazdzierski and Anne Dola. He was preceded by his mother Irene, father Nicholas, sister Nettie and special nephew Ken. Mike devoted his life to his family and community, serving on several boards and committees, including many years as President of the Teulon Ukrainian Festival Board. Over 27 years were spent on the Teulon Council as councillor, then mayor and he was awarded lifetime membership status with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities. He also served 35 years with the Teulon Volunteer Fire Department. Mike worked as a school bus driver for 22 years, but still found time to coach and umpire local baseball. His greatest passion was playing his violin; most recently with the group The Goldenaires . Sincere thanks to Dr. Hutfluss, Dr. P. Harris and the staff at the Grace Hospital for the wonderful, compassionate care. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Teulon Rockwood Centennial Hall. Rev. Patricia McMahon will officiate. Interment will follow in Windsor Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba or Grace Hospital Cancer Care. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of arrangements.
