Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAGNUS (DONNIE) JORGEN GIBSON With love and sorrow the family announces that peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital, Donnie Gibson, beloved husband of Doris, passed away at the age of 85. Donnie was born on September 14, 1920, the second of five children to William and Matthildur Gibson. William passed away in 1930 and Mattie later married Thorsteinn (Steini) Thorsteinson, and Donnie was a brother to six more siblings. Donnie leaves to mourn his wife Doris and her ten children, Shirley, Joan (Dave), John (Bev), Reginald (Kim), Irene (Tim), Linda, Franklin, Kathy (Brian), Jeffrey (Jinny), Ronald (Yana) and their families. Also cherishing Donnie's memory are one brother Allan (Grace) and six sisters, Kristine, Wilma (Crom), Maria (Lou), Thorstina, Norma (Skapti) and Alda (Einar), sister-in-law Solly and brother-in-law Allan Walker. He will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donnie was predeceased by sisters Lillian and Antonia, brother Olafur, brothers-in-law Vilberg Gislason, Laugi Johnson, Rocky Prost, and step son-in-law Wally Mayer. Throughout his life, Donnie took great pride in his work and a job well done. Trucking was his career, from his early days with Riverton Transfer, to Building Products (where he owned two trucks), to SuperCrete, to his final long distance hauling days with Kleysens. Donnie retired in the mid 1980's and returned to Riverton. Never one to be idle, Donnie was eager to lend a hand, be it fishing with his Uncle Oli, cutting grass or clearing snow. Donnie moved to the Icelandic River Lodge in 1989 and it was there that he met Doris Sigurdson. They married in 1992, and with her he shared some of the best years of his life. They were companions and active participants in the various lodge events, enjoyed travelling, playing cards and entertaining in their home. Doris' children were a great joy to Donnie, accepting him into their family and always treating him with love and concern. Donnie wore his emotions on his sleeve. He was a kind, loving and generous person. Family and friends were foremost in his life, and he enjoyed laughter and good fun at many outings, whether it was a game of cards, a family dinner, special occasions or sporting events. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on December 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton Community Hall, officiated by Pastor Trudy Thorarinson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. Rest in Peace - Goda Nott GILBART FUNERAL HOME, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
