(nee SIVERTSON) Peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Victoria General Hospital, Gloria Meadows passed away at the age of 79 years. Gloria will be dearly missed by her husband Thomas; children, Ruth (Doug) Schappert, Raphael (Linda) Meadows and Bruce (Shelley) Bertrand-Meadows; grandchildren, Anna, Lisa, Amy and Kayla, Isaiah and Talia; lifetime friend Margaret Carr; as well as, many other extended family members and countless friends. Gloria was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the Wolseley area. She enjoyed many summers with friends at Winnitoba as a young woman and was an active member of the CGIT. She attended the University of Winnipeg (United College) where she graduated with a B.A. and B. Ed and held her ARCT and AMM in music. Gloria loved music and as a child studied piano. She carried her love of music throughout her life and touched many others with both her teaching and playing. In addition to teaching music in the public school system prior to raising her family, Gloria had numerous private music students over the years and continued to teach piano lessons until September of this year. Throughout her adult life, Gloria spent many summers at the family cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake and enjoyed many canoeing and camping trips. She also took pleasure in numerous car trips throughout North America with her family. Gloria was passionate about playing bridge and was an active member of many bridge groups. She also enjoyed spending time playing cribbage with her husband Tom. Gloria was an active volunteer and gave countless hours back to her community through her work as a member of the I.O.D.E. (Provincial and Jon Sigurdson Chapters), the M.R.M.T.A., the Women's Musical Club, the School Masters' Wives, the Parish Council of St. George's (Crescentwood) Anglican Church, as well as, various other organizations. A memorial was held Friday, November 25 at St. George's (Crescentwood) Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8.
