M. HELEN BRITTON (nee WEIR) Suddenly on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, Helen Britton, aged 77 years, passed away. She was born on February 29, 1928 in Calgary, AB. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mary and James Weir. Helen is survived by her brother Bob; sister Jean (Harry) Dentoom of Red Deer; daughter Myrna (Harold) Fuhr, grandchildren, Jeff (Laura), Laurie; son Brian (Heather), grandchildren, Todd (Lindsey), great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jason and Jaclyn; son Bernie (Anna), grandchildren, Christopher, Marcella, grandchildren, Carrie and Michael; Ken (Johanne), grandchildren, Sandra, Sean, Nicolle (Amorel), great-grandchildren, Jacob and Rebecca. She was predeceased by her brothers, Tom and Ernie (Molly); and grandson Scotty Bernard. Helen graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1944 and attended beauty school in Bentley, AB during which time she met her true love, Lyal. They were married in Red Deer, November 7, 1948, and then moved to Ruthilda, SK in 1950 where she worked at the Family Store. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1952. Helen opened the Churchill Beauty Salon in 1954 and worked tirelessly to support her four children, as a single parent until her retirement in 1995. She moved to Winnipeg in 1999 to be closer to her children. Thank you to grandson Jason who helped in her care and a special thank you to her respite worker Marianne who assisted her during her final moments. Mom we love you and miss you and thank you for your unselfish love and devotion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. A private family service will be held at a later date.
