JUNE HALL (BRYDGES) November 14, 1914 - November 25, 2005 After a long graceful decline, June passed away with her daughters at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Mac Hall in 1975, and most recently, by her brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Doris Brydges. June is survived by her daughters, Judy Quail, Winnipeg, Nancy Hall (Lorne Shukster) Sandy Hook and her favourite son Gerry of New Westminster, BC, her grandchildren, Kathy Gerrard (John), Jeff Quail (Joanna), Britt (Paul Humenchuk), Krista (Sean Hicks), Nancy (Chad Cornell), Graeme Lang, Merry Lang, Kal Shukster (Tiffany Kuusselka), her great-grandchildren, Gillian and Chloe Gerrard, Tatum and Lucas Hicks and Autumn Kuusselka, her nephew Michael Brydges and nieces, Susan Grant of Calgary and Arlene Bell of Winnipeg and their families. Mom spent most of her life in South Fort Rouge, attending Lord Roberts and Kelvin High School. After Dad's death, she moved to St. Vital and slowly began to feel at home there. From 1949 to this summer when she was able to make her last day trip, Mom enjoyed her years at the cottage in Grand Beach. Mom was as comfortable in the chairman's seat as she was in the rank and file, working for everything from the Home and School to bowling leagues, charitable organizations and a certain political party. She was a 30 year member of Sphinx Temple Daughters of the Nile and was their recorder for 20 years. On her retirement, Sphinx Temple honoured her with a life membership and she left the office regretting so much that it was time to go. She loved to read and by the end of her stay in St. Vital, had read so many books in the library there that she had to mark them with a discreet x on the back cover to avoid a repeat. She was a fabulous cook and we'll not soon forget her more than 50 continuous years of throwing the best Christmas Eve dinner party a family could enjoy. We've asked ourselves what determined success in our mother's journey and have concluded these simple facts: she was admired, respected and deeply loved by her children. In 2000, Mom moved to Gimli and it was there in 2004 she enjoyed a very successful 90th birthday Celebration of her Life. Mom felt there was nothing more to say and therefore cremation has taken place. There will be a private family funeral at a later date. We sincerely thank the nurses, support staff, kitchen staff and paramedics, Cory and Ivan, who were all so kind to Mom during her 10 month stay at the Gimli Hospital. She especially wanted to thank Dr. Jacqui Montoedi of whom she was so fond. Mom always said, think of me for awhile and then let me go , but in the words of Cory, we'll remember that she was a woman who lived on her own terms, a real firecracker . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Healing Garden at Gimli Community Health Centre, 120 6th Avenue (Box 250), Gimli, MB R0C 1B0 or to a charity of your choice.
