ALLAN BURGESS STEWART Peacefully on November 24, 2005, Allan Burgess Stewart passed away at the Betel Home in Selkirk, MB, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Eleanor; daughters, Beverly (Chris), Donna (Philip); grandchildren, Laurelle, Kevin (Christine), Raeleen (Brian), Amanda (Colin), Rebecca (Andy); great-grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Branden, Clay, Carson, and Brooke; brothers, Ray (Diana), Maurice (Glenna). His older brother Harold predeceased him. Allan cherished his family deeply. Allan was born in Vancouver, BC, on March 5, 1917. Allan had many occupations, from logging and pipefitting to many maintenance and mechanic jobs. Before he became ill he was often found in his garage tinkering on items that others had thrown away as he loved the challenge of making them work again. He also enjoyed working on everyone's cars from bodywork to mechanical. He was a very kindhearted and generous man willing to help any one who needed it. We will always remember those big bear hugs he loved to give to all he would meet, along with his great sense of humour. Allan was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for over 65 years; his strong belief in the kingdom hope that he preached to others helped him through his life. In the times when he became ill the scriptures, those of the hope of the resurrection and a paradise earth, especially comforted him. (John 11:25, Rev 21:4, Ps 37:29) The family would like to thank the staff at Selkirk Betel Home and Dr. Demsas for their kind and compassionate care of Allan. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12 Hawthorne Pl., Selkirk, officiated by Mr. Richard Downing. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 18 Main St., Selkirk, MB 785-1575
