Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryZELMA MATILDA SHAW After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Zelma Matilda Shaw passed away November 29, 2005 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB at the age of 87 years. Zelma is survived by one son Grant (Teresa) of Steinbach; two daughters, Jean Wiwchar (Morris) of Piney and Sharon Oliver (Bob) of Winnipeg; one daughter-in-law Pat Shaw of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Kay Turner and Blanche Nickel. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard; her son Ronald; and her grandsons, Cory and Alan; her parents, Philomene and Albert Willekens. Mom was born in Belgium July 11, 1918. At the age of two she immigrated with her family to Canada, settling in the Swan Lake, MB area. She married Bernard Shaw in 1936. They farmed in the Holland and Treherne districts, moving to Piney in 1951. Mom was very active in the community being a member of the over 40 club, a volunteer with the congregate meals, a lifetime member of the Piney Kraft Klub, a 4H leader to name a few. Mom loved to quilt, sew and knit. She learned to crochet just a few years ago. She enjoyed her flowers especially the gladiolus. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., with Rev. Steven Johann officiating. Family interment will follow at a later date. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be her grandchildren. The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful staff at Cedarwood, home care staff and coordinators.
