BOB ROBERTS
Born: Dec 18, 1938
Date of Passing: Nov 29, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBOB ROBERTS, P. Eng. (SEEPISH) Bob was born Dec. 18, 1938 and left our family suddenly and quickly on November 29, 2005 with Lou Anna and Scott at his side. Bob's zest for life was contagious and impacted anyone he met. He was the pillar of our family for his beloved wife Lou Anna, cherished daughter Zoe and his honored sons, Brant (girlfriend Deanne) and Scott Field. Bob and Lou Anna were married on October 20, 1989 and Bob whole-heartedly assumed the responsibility of an instant family. Bob was predeceased by his father Tom (1963), brother Gary (2004) and mother Christine (Oct 2005). He will be forever loved and missed by his brother Ron (Kathy) - Robin, Peter and Kelly; sister Pat (Brad) - Kris, Alyssa and Scott; sister-in-law Elaine - Tony and Tim (Nicole); in-laws Louise and Michael Gray; sisters-in-law Barb (Lou) - Matt, Bret and Scott; Cathy (Andre) and brother-in-law Randy (Janice). Bob graduated with a B.Sc. (Mech. Eng.) '60, B. Arts, '66 (U of M) and pursued further studies in the School of Humanities at U. of Toronto (66-68). Bob was awarded the Rector's Prize for Philosophy at St. Paul's College (1966) and was a valuable member of the IPAC Buffaloes as they won the Western Canada Jr. Men's Basketball Final in 1959. He took these accomplishments as a free license to expound his philosophical theories of life to all who listened and to jump into any basketball game underway as he entered the Wellness Institute. He was an engineer by profession, an artist by calling, but an unbridled comedian by nature. A visit with Bob left you feeling entertained . Bob enjoyed golf and downhill skiing and shared the joy of these sports with his family. Always ready for a new adventure, Bob motorcycled through Europe twice, traveled Africa, the Mediterranean, and reflects with fondness his Mexico Run with Nick T. in 1975. He honeymooned with Lou Anna golfing the Algarve, Portugal, many trips to Florida, Mexico with the boys, skiing in Austria, Switzerland and the Rockies, and Disney World 3 times with his family. Prayers will be held on Sunday, Dec.4 at 7:00 pm. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Mass is Monday, Dec. 5, 1:00 pm, St. Alphonsus Parish, 300 Donalda Ave. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to St. Paul's High School Bursary Fund, or a charity of your choice. What we play is life. - Louis Armstrong

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family with loving kindness since the passing of Bob. The stories of Bob are part of our remembrance of him as when he was with us, hardly a day went by that he didn't tell or re-tell a story of one of his adventures. Or jump in the car and take us out for an adventure. We miss his story-telling so much and have created a website at www.bobroberts.org where we encourage anyone who has shared an experience with Bob to leave a message on the site. - Posted by: Lou Anna Roberts (Family) on: Dec 28, 2005

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing today. Through the sixties we carpooled, drank beer, chased women, travelled to los Vegas, San Francisco and West coast together. I remember Bob with great affection - a superior intellect, terrific athlete, irreverent comic, a tightwad with the trivial ( arrival of the dinner bill signalled Bob's sudden need for the washroom), and generosity with important things. Priviledged to have shared his insights, his humour and his friendship. My heart goes to those he cherished later in life. An uncommon man, he touched hearts and minds wherever he travelled. - Posted by: Ken Zaborniak (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2005

My heart goes out to you and your family Lou Anna, on the passing of your wonderful Bob. We meet many people as we travel through life and a few really stand out. He was one of them. When you introduced him to me, not so very long ago, I could tell at once that he was a gem. You had a real winner there, Lou Anna. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you but especially dear little Zoe. - Posted by: Grace Malloy (Friend) on: Dec 08, 2005

Lou Anna, We are so very sorry to hear of Bob's sudden passing. I haven't seen you guys in years, but my Mom did and she just loved Bob. Said he was a "real prince". Take care of yourself and Zoe, Scott and Brant. They need you so much now. Call me if I can help in any way. Elaine - Posted by: Elaine Stetina (Friend) on: Dec 08, 2005

I knew Bob when we were both basketball playing teenagers at Stella Mission and with the Juvenile Stellars. I remember him as a very nice fellow and a good teammate. My condolences and sincere best wishes. - Posted by: Dale Shore (Acquaintance) on: Dec 01, 2005
