ZACHARY ROSS SIMARD On November 5, 2005, Raymond Simard and Caron George, of Ottawa, ON, welcomed the arrival of their son, Zachary Ross Simard. Zachary was born three months prematurely, weighing only 669 grams. After a courageous struggle to live, Zachary passed away on November 28, 2005 at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Don't Cry For Me Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not here, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not here, I did not die. (Author Unknown) We feel incredibly fortunate to have received the gift of Zachary. He inspired many people with his tenacious and brave struggle during his short life. He brought great hope to our hearts and showed us the true value of life. He has left a huge space in our hearts for so tiny a person and his death will be mourned by our families and friends, including his sisters Valerie and Marie-Michelle Simard, his grandmother Margaret George-Hahle of Calgary, his Uncle Marc and Aunt Caryl George of Brandon, his Uncle Guy and Aunt Micheline Simard of St. Lambert, his Uncle Robert Simard and his Aunt Diane Parent of St. Lambert, his Aunt Louise and his Uncle Clement St-Hilaire of Kelowna, his Aunt Marie and Uncle Bill Couldwell of Salt Lake City and his Uncle Gerry and Aunt Cherilynne Simard of Abbotsford. We wish to thank the amazing people from the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, who make miracles happen everyday. It is impossible to express our gratitude for the care and love you showed Zachary and our family. There will be a private memorial service for family and friends. To commemorate Zachary, we request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Zachary's name to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
