EDNA BROWN After a lengthy illness, (Sarah) Edna Brown passed away at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care on December 1, 2005. Edna is survived by her sister, Jean Nicholson, nieces Jeanine (Kieron), Jennifer (Tom) and nephew John (Vera). She is also survived by the next generation of Nicholsons, Emily and Roman and Devon and Kurt Hanel. Edna was a person who was constantly in motion, even when illness seemed to slow her down. She spent the majority of her career with Mercer's Insurance Actuaries, but also had the opportunity to do other kinds of work such as teacher's aide at Argyle School. She has always traveled extensively and has visited Britain numerous times as well as Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. She considered visiting her foster child in Bali to be one of the highlights of her travels. Edna and Jean have enjoyed many years (since 1952) at their cottage at West Hawk Lake, where they've made many friends. Edners (as she was always known) thrived at being an aunt. She always gave of her time and talent to Jeanine, Jennifer and John throughout the years. She was fully involved in taking us skating, to swimming lessons, to Brownies and to many other activities. She worked tirelessly to make special events really special and was delighted in the pleasure she brought to others. Edners always had a knack for artistic pursuits and took pride in her painting, knitting, sewing and other hobbies. Edners was truly blessed by the many friendships she has enjoyed, far too numerous to mention. The family would like to extend very sincere thanks to Kildonan Community Church, Agape Villa and so many true and faithful friends for their visits, cards, phone calls which were always appreciated. Special thanks to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care for the excellent care Edners received in the past three weeks. A memorial service will be held at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main St. on December 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society would be appreciated by Edna.
