Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES STEWART FRASER March 21, 1922 - December 2, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Fraser with family by his side in the Teulon Hunter Hospital at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn, his wife Reta, of 60 years; his son Bruce (Bev) of Mexico; daughter Gwenda (Bob) McConnell of Kamloops, BC; grand-children, Jamie, South Korea, Erica, Urbana, IL, Jason, Toronto and Nadine, Kamloops. He is survived by brother Donald (LaVerne) of Edmonton; sister Islay (Alex) Jack of Teulon. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Ellwood and Bella; sister Margaret Dicks; infant brother Howard and infant sister Annabell. James took over his parent's farm in 1945 after he married Reta on October 3, 1945. He raised many prize winning turkeys and then went into the Hereford cattle business for many years until they sold the farm in 1985. They then moved to Gunton for 10 years, then to Crescent Creek Park in Teulon. For 15 years during that time, he enjoyed spending winters in Weslaco, TX where he could play floor shuffleboard and golf and won many trophies of which he was very proud. He enjoyed most sports, taking part in golf, floor shuffleboard and curling. He was a great fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and watched many baseball games. He enjoyed playing card games, especially cribbage and beating whoever he played. During his younger years he was in Scouting and 4-H. Later he was on the Gunton School Board, Gunton and Teulon United Church Boards, Teulon Hunter Hospital Board, and a 4-H Leader and a charter member of the Teulon Golf Club. Special thanks to Dr. Harris at the Grace Hospital Cancer Care Clinic along with the nurses, Dr. Graham and Dr. Loudon and the nursing staff at the Teulon Hunter Hospital. A heartfelt thank you to Auntie Islay for being there when we needed her the most. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' name may be made to a charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral arrangements by MacKenzie Funeral Home.
