ASGEIR (JOE) JOHANNESSON Joe passed peacefully in his sleep at the Misericordia Hospital on December 2, 2005. He will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Kris (Asta) (Erik, Thor and Drew), Belle (Dennis) (Erin,Tim, Samuel, and Evan), Ken. Brother Thor (Phyllis), many nieces and nephews, stepdaughter Mickey Kojima and family. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia in 1990 and his second wife Margaret in 2002. Joe was a special man, so kind and gentle, anyone who knew him, loved him. Joe was born in Winnipeg on October 9, 1919 to Halldor and Ragnheidur. He was the second youngest of seven children. He met and married Patricia Pyke on February 16, 1943. He served his country with distinction as a lieutenant in the Lake Superior Regiment in the Second World War. After returning from the war he moved to Neepawa to teach wood shops. Returning to Winnipeg he started his own company in woodworking. He went on to designing restaurants at William's Restaurant Supply and finally in 1981, along with his son Kris, opened United Restaurant Supply. Working closely together for ten years, Joe retired at the age of 71. During his retirement he enjoyed times at Victoria Beach and winters in Texas. The family would like to thank staff at the Grace and Misericordia Hospitals for all their care given to Joe during his stay with each. Also, to the many friends that visited with him, he loved all of you. A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held Wednesday December 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey St. entrance).
