KATHERINE GLOWA Peacefully after a brief illness, it is with regret the family announces that Katherine passed away on December 4, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1971 and son Gordon in 1997. She is survived by her son George (Judy) and her daughter-in-law Shelly; grandchildren, Tim (Wendy), Jacqueline (Chris), Michelle (Gord), Candace and Danielle and three great-grandchildren, Grace, Hayden and Alexander. She was very happy to have been able to see and hold all her great-grandchildren at a family reunion in August, and took great pride in showing their pictures to whomever she met. She also leaves behind a sister Mollie (Bill) and two brothers, Karl (Olga) and Nick (Joan) and sisters-in-law, Katherine, Mary and Sylvia, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters. Katherine was born to George and Mary Billey on June 3, 1917 in the tiny hamlet of Weiden, MB. Prior to her marriage to Peter, Katherine was employed in the garment industry in Winnipeg. Katherine was most comfortable in her kitchen, for she loved to cook and entertain guests. She was a member of the St. Anne's CWL for over 40 years, and was one of their perogy making pioneers. She was most proud to be known as the Tea Lady and was a member of the Kildonan Senior Horizens where she participated in their weekly card games. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Concordia Hospital for all their kindness and support. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, December 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, 455 Douglas Ave. with Fr. Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pamyat Knysh Funeral Chapel in charge of all arrangements. 582-0973.
