GEORGE THOMAS STREWCHUK November 27, 1910 - December 4, 2005 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their father, grandfather and great-grandfather George Thomas Strewchuk at the age of 95 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dad is survived by his children, son George (Eva), daughter Marion Childs, daughter Valerie Bailey (Gary) and son Roy (Karen). He was predeceased by his wife Elsie and son Fred. Dad was born in Horodenka, Austria in 1910 and came to Canada in 1922. He settled in West Kildonan and was educated there and he attended St. Paul's College. He met and married Elsie Klym and together went into the grocery business. In his earlier years he was employed in the construction industry, and then went on to be employed by the C.P.R. as locomotive engineer for 30 years. He served the City of West Kildonan as an alderman from 1967 to 1969. Special thanks to the Palliative Care nurses, Tammie Lee and Mary Ann and also to the home care workers who attended him. Special thanks to Dr. S. Husarewycz. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at a later date.
