STACY KRAWAT May 1, 1941 - December 4, 2005 Peacefully, with the love of her family and friends Stacy's year long battle with cancer ended at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre late Sunday evening, December 4, 2005. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years Joseph; sons, Tony and Darin; daughters-in-law, Roberta and Crystal; as well as her grandchildren, Sarah and Chase. She will further be remembered by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Don Knight, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kady and Vic Milchuck as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends. Born in Winnipeg in 1941, Stacy spent her youth in Winnipeg's North End where her and her family resided on Balmoral Avenue. As a child she would attend Isbister, Victoria Albert, Hugh John Macdonald and finally Daniel McIntyre High School, before meeting the love of her life Joseph. Two months after her 18th birthday in the summer of 1959 they would marry. The young couple first resided on McAdam Avenue in West Kildonan where Stacy would study to become a hairdresser at Scientific Hair Dressing School. Taking her skilled scissors and wonderful personality to River Heights she would work in the area for the next eight years prior to moving to Transcona where they would start their family. Giving up her trade to stay home and raise her sons, Stacy and her husband would become ingrained into the Community of Transcona. In the spirit of community, she would put in hours of volunteer work at what was once Mapes Community Club, St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and Radisson Elementary School. The next 10 years would be busy. Hockey practices, swimming lessons, doctor appointments, meals, birthdays, holidays, parent-teacher meetings and all else that holds a family together. Stacy was a master of her new vocation, a seemingly tireless stay at home mom. In 1978 Stacy, Joe and family would leave Transcona to build their dream house in St. Andrews, MB. Together they would turn an acre and a half of dusty prairie into a beautiful park where she would reside until present. Mom had a great many interests, she was a marvel in the kitchen and a stickler for fine detail no matter the project. She loved games, wildlife, gardening, design, music and movies, but her greatest love was without doubt her family. She will be passionately missed. According to Stacy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and reception to celebrate the life of Stacy Krawat will be held Friday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations could be made to CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to send their most sincere appreciation to the nurses from Selkirk Home Care, the nurses and staff of D4 and D5 wing at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre and to Drs. Czaykowski and Araneda for their devoting care. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
