WILLIAM (BILL) ALLEN It is with deepest sorrow and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our beloved William Bill Allen Sr. He is survived by Edith (nee Johannson) his loving wife of 57 years; his children, Barbara, Bill (Carol), Patrisha (Morley) Leung, Christine (Ric) Groom and Timothy (Bettina); and grandchildren, Erica, Ian, David, Thomas, Tessa, Spencer and Vincent; and great-grandson Benjiro King. Bill was born July 12, 1922 in Winnipeg and grew up in the Norwood area. He graduated from Wesley College (now the University of Winnipeg) and went to work for The Bay. His career, however, was at United Grain Growers where he worked as a credit manager for 30 years. Bill met Edith, the love of his life, at the Winnipeg Canoe Club. They were married September 7, 1948 and raised their children in the Fort Rouge/Fort Garry areas. Bill enjoyed sports (especially golf), gardening and travelling with Edith always at his side. Reading the newspaper from front to back was a daily morning ritual. Nothing was done around the house until the newspaper was fully devoured. Being of Yorkshire descent, Bill had a very dry English sense of humour. He loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed the many hours spent with the grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. He will be sorrowfully missed by his many friends. Bill, Dad, Afi - Love you forever Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
