JAMES R. DONALDSON It is with deepest sadness and loss that we announce the passing of James R., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, at Oakview Place Personal Care Home on Sunday, December 4 2005, at the age of 85. Remaining to forever cherish Jim's memory are his wife Peggy, of 59 years of marriage; sisters, Nancy, Karen and Adelle; children, Reg (Barb), Sheri (Jeff) and Geoff, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as numerous friends and loved ones. He was predeceased by daughter Morrie; son James Douglas; parents, Tom and Jemima; sister Mary and brothers, Andrew, Donnie and Archie. Jim was born in Winnipeg on March 11, 1920 and moved to Flin Flon at age 19 to work for Hudson's Bay Mining and Smelting. In 1940, he joined the RCAF and served his country for five years as a rear gunner in the Second World War. Following the war, he returned to Flin Flon where he met his future wife, Peggy. In 1952 he relocated his family to Winnipeg and was employed as General Manager of Dorwin Industries until joining Storm-Tite Industries in 1967, from which he retired as General Manger in 1986. Jim was an avid member of the Wartime Pilots and Observers association. On Saturday, December 10 at 1:30 p.m., Jim's funeral service will be held in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking is available in the Seventh Day Adventist Parking lot on Ness Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the charity of one's choice.
