Date of Passing: Dec 06, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY MAY DESROSIERS (nee BENNETT) It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother and grandmother, Shirley Desrosiers on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, one day after her 79th birthday. Shirley was predeceased by her husband (soulmate), George Desrosiers in 2002; she is survived by her daughter, Richelle (Brent) and grandchildren, Marley and Caleb who all shared a close bond with her; her son, Paul (Debbie) and grandson, Tyler of Aylmer, Ontario, as well as Cathy Williams Stewart who has for many years been both a friend and an adopted daughter. The family wishes to thank friends and colleagues who have and continue to be tremendous sources of support. Thanks also to the staff of the Tache Centre (4 ABC) for their many years of care and compassion. Before Shirley began her struggle with neurological disease, she was a terrific dancer, swimmer, dress-maker and rollerskater. She loved to shop and was always a snappy dresser. She will be missed by all who knew her for her warmth, generosity, humour, strength, quick wit, charm and love of family. Cremation has taken place; a graveside committal service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. in the Apostle Section on Friday, December 9, at 1:00 p.m. Monsignor Maurice Comeault will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Winnipeg Folk Festival, 203-211 Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 3P2. I trace the purple rivers in your hands, the hands that held me as a child. I do not understand, overcome by every memory, love and pain. I clasp your hand because I know your smile. I tremble through my heart and start to cry. I see you look at me to let me know. I need a little while more. I don't know how to say goodbye. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
