JANET SCOULAR (BAIRD) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet, wife, mother and grandmother, on Monday, December 5, 2005. Janet was born on June 22, 1924 in Glasgow, Scotland, the third child of Thomas and Florence Baird. She met Walter, a young Canadian soldier, while he was on leave in Scotland during the Second World War. They were married in Glasgow on April 2, 1943. At war's end Janet came to live in Canada. Janet had a remarkable spirit and incredible creativity and talent. Her home is a work of art filled with her beloved dolls and many creations. She was an outstanding hostess - welcoming all to her home. Janet and Walter lived in many places including Ontario, Florida and B.C. They returned to Manitoba when Janet's illness became apparent. Janet is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter; children Darlene (George) Thrale, Cynthia (Marvin) Winkler; Tom (Cathy) Scoular and Edith (Toni) Cronin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and her sister, Edith Kerr, of Nottingham, England. A private family service and celebration of Janet's life will be held Saturday, December 10, in Selkirk. Donations may be made in Janet's memory to the Alzheimer Society or Tudor House, Selkirk. A mother's love cannot be compared, For hers is an ever constant love, Unlimited, unchanging and forever. She will take you as you are, And never ask for more than, Your love in return.
