Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELENA UNRUH (nee TOEWS) On Monday, December 5, 2005, Helena passed away peacefully at the Oakview Place Personal Care Home, at the age of 90 years. Remaining to forever cherish in Helen's memory are her son Ronald (Lesley); grandchildren, Scott, Dale and Claire; brother Ernie (Aldyth) and sister Linda Peters as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was born on October 20, 1915 in Steinbach, MB. She was the 12th of 15 children. Helen was the last of the children of Peter R. and Elizabeth Toews. Mom was married to George Unruh on October 10, 1949. They spent 45 years together living in Winnipeg. She worked hard at keeping a friendly home that was open to one and all. Mom will be fondly remembered for her love for family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, sports especially baseball and later in retirement with George travelling to many destinations throughout North America. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Friday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy. The last eight years of Mom's life were spent in failing health at Deer Lodge and Oakview Extendicare Personal Care Homes. Special thanks to the staffs for the care and love shown to her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to Union Gospel Mission, 320 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3C7.
