Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryM. FRANCES LAU (nee HO) On Monday, December 5, 2005, Frances passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 93 years. Remaining to forever cherish Frances' memory are her son Robert of Winnipeg; brothers, Joseph (Kwai-Chun) and Marc of Hong Kong, Philip of China and Benjamin (Marion) of Vancouver; sister Marie of Winnipeg; nieces, Teresa (Thomas), Simone (Patrick) of Winnipeg, Jeannette of Vancouver, Juliana (Edward) of St. Albert and Rita of Toronto; nephew Rene (Janet) of St. Albert; sister-in-law Anna of Sacramento, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, China, Hong Kong and the United States. Also left to cherish her memories are her close friends, Cheryl (Kelvin) Dyck, Marina (Peter) Cheung, Jenny (Phillip) Chan, Bernadette (Gilbert) Leung, Rose-May (Lindsay) Cheong of Winnipeg, Rene Koo and Wan-King Chu of Hong Kong, Margaret (Simon) Yim of Vancouver and Tony Changmine of Danville, CA. She was predeceased by her parents Andre and Marguerite; husband James; brothers, Marius, Raphael and Francis; and special friends, Mary Yeung and Josie Kehler. Frances was born in Port Louis, Mauritius. She lived in Canton, China from 1923 to 1948. Frances moved to Hong Kong in 1948 and lived there until 1975 when she immigrated to Canada to join her son in Winnipeg. She spent two years in Thompson and met some wonderful friends there. In 1978, she moved back to Winnipeg where she lived until her passing. The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing and health care staff of Victoria General Hospital, 4th Floor and Riverview Health Centre, 3rd Floor West Wing who provided Frances with the best of care during her recent stay. Special thanks to her home care nurse Liana and to her home care workers, Katrina, Oksana, Irene and Kaleigh for their wonderful care and kindness. A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated with Rev. Dr. Patrick A. Morand on Friday, December 9 in the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church and was attended by family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances' memory to the Missionaries of Charity (Manitoba), 167 Aikens St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 4G1.
