Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA DRACHUK (nee SMILINSKI) It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces the passing away of their beloved mother, sister and baba, Lena (Lee) Drachuk on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Concordia Hospital. Lena was predeceased by her husband John; father Fred; mother Anne; sisters, Mary and Olga; brothers, Michael, John, Bill, Tony and Steve. She is survived by sons, Derrick and Gary (Cheryl); daughter Marilyn (George); sister Marie; grandchildren, Derek, Larissa, Stephanie, Jeremy and Tyler. Lena Drachuk was born in Neepawa on May 4, 1923, and grew up in Point Douglas and Gonor, then lived in East Kildonan the rest of her life. Lena worked at the Eaton's Mail Order as a retail clerk for 30 years until her retirement in 1974. In Lena's younger years she enjoyed bingo, bowling, dancing and travelling. She liked entertaining her many friends and family. Summer would find her on vacation at Grand Beach with her children and relatives. She loved her flower garden and looked forward to it every year. She travelled frequently with her husband to Toronto and Vancouver and also visited family and relatives in Minneapolis and Los Angeles. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home where Lena resided the last year and a half. We love you Mom. Rest in peace. Vichnaya Pamyat. A private family service with close friends and family will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment to follow. Rt. Rev. John A. Melnyk officiating.
