ROSALIND FAULKNER HUDSON (nee CURRY) It's with our deepest sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving wife and mother Roz, on Thursday, December 8, 2005, at the Victoria General Hospital. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 29 years, Rick; her daughters, Ashley and Laura; and her sons, Matthew and Mark. Roz is survived by her parents, John and Kit Thistlethwaite; her siblings, Kit Palfy (Lou) St. Albert, Fred Curry, Jaylin Doe (Alan), Nick Curry (Debbie Lindsay), John Thistlethwaite (Lorraine), Tom Thistlethwaite (Tracey Johnson); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Born in Winnipeg October 24, 1956, Roz was the fifth of seven children. She was educated at Grosvenor School, River Heights School, Kelvin High School, The University of Winnipeg Collegiate and graduated from the University of Manitoba in spring of 1996. Roz was employed by The W.S.D. No. 1 at Laura Secord Elementary school as a one/two primary teacher. She loved her students and colleagues. Those who care - teach was a philosophy she believed in passionately and lived by. She missed her classroom dearly and her daily interaction with her students and colleagues. Roz was a devoted mother and wife whose life was dedicated to the raising of her precious children, Ash, Matt, Laura and Mark. Her life revolved around her babies as she stayed home and raised them until they were in their teens. She spent countless hours volunteering at their schools, sports and other extracurricular activities. Summers were spent at the family cottage in Matlock just around the corner from her parents' cottage where she had spent her childhood summers. Summer days were often spent lolling on the beach at San Souci and playing in the waters of Lake Winnipeg. Several weeks of alternating summers were spent visiting her sister Kit and her boys somewhere in Western Canada. The sisters shared a very special bond and love of shopping. Spring breaks for the past nine years were spent vacationing in tropical destinations. As much as Roz loved the sun, she despised bathing suit shopping. Christmas time was a particularly special time in the Hudson household, filled with numerous traditions that sometimes drove the kids crazy. Rick was her true love and companion since the age of 16 and for more then 29 years of marriage. Their mutual love for each other and family allowed them to maximize their time together. She was first diagnosed eight and one half years ago with breast cancer. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ carried her through her radiation and chemotherapy. She enjoyed her new curls and deemed herself a cancer survivor. Her reoccurrence in 2004 only hardened her resolve to once again be cancer free. She was a courageous warrior and fought tenaciously to the end. Our family would like to extend a sincere thank you and our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. A. Jayakumar and Dr. J. Horton as well as Astrid, Penny and Jackie and the rest of the oncology nursing staff at the Victoria General. A special thanks to all the staff of Ward Five for their care of Mum during her last few days. Come celebrate Mum's life with us on Tuesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 168 Wilton St. Our mother firmly believed that research would one day find a cure for all those battling cancer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mum's memory to Cancercare Manitoba, Winnipeg Healing Room or St. George's Memorial Fund Inc. We'll love you forever, we'll like you for always, as long as we're living our Mummy you'll be.
