DOROTHY TURNER (nee ROBERTS) 1921 - 2005 Following a period of failing health, it is with deep sorrow that the family of Dorothy Doris Turner announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was 84 years of age. Dorothy was the youngest child of Griffith David Roberts and Sarah Roberts (Davies) who immigrated with four young children, from Caernarvon, N. Wales in 1911. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Garfield Lloyd Turner (Gary) on December 4, 2004; her sisters, Annie Nixon and Sally McGarva of Winnipeg, Maggie Morris, Mary Hilton and Jennie Roberts of Bangor, SK; brothers, Bill Roberts of Saskatoon, Levi Roberts of Bangor and Owen Roberts of Yorkton, SK. Dorothy moved from the family farm to Winnipeg to work and resided with her sister Annie Nixon and her husband Charlie. It was through them that she was introduced to Garfield Turner and they were married on March 25, 1945. One of her many pleasures was to go home to Bangor and visit with her family each summer. She also enjoyed baking, preserving, gardening, making family suppers on Sunday night, sending and receiving correspondence with her family and never forgetting to acknowledge a special occasion. In later years she derived a great deal of pleasure from planning her casino trips with her friends. Dorothy was never afraid of hard work and courage and determination kept her going until the last. Always there for her family no matter what, she was there to support and take care of whatever was needed. We will miss her. Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her son Wayne and his wife Wendy of Boissevain, MB; her daughter Lana Burgoyne and husband John of Beaconia, MB; grandchildren, Wade and Jonathan Turner of Winnipeg, Michael Burgoyne and his wife Alaina of Edmonton, AB, Allison Dennis and her husband Brian of Nanaimo, BC, Jacqueline Burgoyne and friend Rick of Winnipeg; and great-granddaughters, Ashley and Jada Dennis of Nanaimo; as well as many nieces and nephews who were all so dear to her, other relatives and friends. Mom and Dad had resided at Middlechurch Home since 2003 with their loving cat Sylvester as a constant companion. In appreciation to the staff at Middlechurch Home, we wish to express our gratitude for your many acts of kindness evidenced in thought and deed too many to mention. At Dorothy's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The family gratefully declines flowers and suggests a donation may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
