MAY ELLEN GREEN (nee EMMS, BYRON) Peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2005 May Green, aged 89, of Winnipeg, formerly of Oak Point, MB, passed away at Vista Park Lodge. She leaves to treasure her memory her loving children, son Alfred Byron (Arlene), grandson Scott Byron (Sylvia), granddaughter Stefanie Hencheroff (Jayson); daughter Pearl Krywy (Michael), grandson Todd Krywy (Sherri), granddaughter Lisa Brown (Allan); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Robert and Christopher Byron, Justin and Kaitlyn Krywy and Matthew Brown. She is also survived by one sister Sarah Scharf; and three brothers, Alfred (Pearl) Emms, Arthur Emms and Bert (Doreen) Emms; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Catherine Emms; her brothers, Eddie, David, George, Ernie and Donald; and her sisters, Ida and Annie. She was born on June 29, 1916, in Ideal, MB, and was married to Bessi Byron. They worked together on a mink ranch and cattle farm in Oak Point until his death in October 1952. She married Allan Green in 1955 and lived happily until his early demise in January 1962. Mom worked very hard all of her life and always placed others before herself. She was unfailingly kind and generous to others. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Many of us will remember her for her subtle sense of humour. Mom loved to travel and went on many trips within Canada and the US with Mike and Pearl, but the highlights were her trips to Scotland and Ontario to trace her roots and to Hawaii to attend her granddaughter Stefanie's wedding. The family would like to thank Vista Park Lodge for their care and kindness to May in the two and a half years she resided there, and especially the nurses aides for making her last few weeks as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Osteoporosis Society would be appreciated. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Point Community Hall. Pastor Nancy Walker will officiate with interment to follow in the Oak Point Cemetery. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
