STEPHEN DEMERY Peacefully on December 9, 2005, at the Victoria Hospital, Stephen Demery passed away at the age of 89. Steve was predeceased by his parents, father Nestor in 1962 and mother Anna in 1977; sister Doris and brother Bill in 2004; his first wife Walda Erika (Ricky) in 1988 and his second wife Raffelina in 2004. Steve leaves to mourn his daughter Kathy (Clay) of California, step-daughter Cathie (Randy) of Winnipeg, step-son Ron (Susan) and their children, Miranda and Haley of California. He is also survived by his brother George (Dorothy) of California; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Steve was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Teulon, MB. In 1942 he married Walda Erika (Ricky) and they had one daughter. While living in Winnipeg Steve worked for Bryce's Bakery. In 1955 he packed up his family and moved to Texas where he worked for his uncle as a sheet metal foreman. In 1957 he decided to go back into the bakery business and make a permanent home for his family in Orange County, CA. Steve worked for Helm's Bakery and Golden Krust Bakery before opening Demery's Home Service in Orange County in 1969. Following Walda Erika (Ricky) passing in 1988, he then remarried in 1992 to Raffelina and he moved back to Winnipeg for the remainder of his life. His greatest joy in life was his family and friends, he was known for his quick wit and sense of humor which will be sadly missed. The family extends special thanks to the staff of the Golden Door Geriatric Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Diabetic Association. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., after which he will be interred in California.
