SANDRA ALVINA JOYCE WARD (nee STEADWELL) July 22, 1943 - December 11, 2005 It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and baba, Sandra. Mom died peacefully, with her family by her side, on Sunday, December 11, 2005, after a very courageous battle with both cancer and vascular disease. Sandra will be adoringly remembered and is already deeply missed by her husband and best friend of 34 years, Bill; her daughters, Holly (Aaron) and Bronwyn (Dylan); and her three cherished grandchildren, Kael, Troy and Lucy. Also mourning her passing are numerous close relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Garnet and Dorothy Steadwell and her brother David. Mom began her career in bookkeeping as a young woman. She kept it up while she was busy with her family and as bookkeeper for the family construction business, she was Dad's valued partner right to the end. Mom's proudest achievement was raising two daughters and creating a loving, close family with Dad in our happy nurturing home. Sandra was born to be a mom. She had an amazingly generous spirit and always gave freely of her hugs, love and gentle guidance, not only to her family, but to just about anyone who needed Mom's tender care. Mom was truly devoted to her grandchildren. She adored spending time with them, caring for them often, lighting up their lives as they lit up hers. Her babies will always love their bestest Baba. In 1984, Dad built our family cabin on Willow Island as a gift to Mom and since then we have created countless special memories there. We spent many idyllic summers together, playing, laughing and bonding at Ward's Paradise , it was Mom and Dad's treasured second home. Wherever she was, Mom's favourite room was the kitchen where her natural cooking talents shone. She was a fantastic cook. Mom loved to prepare delicious meals and goodies for her family. Sandra was a truly beautiful woman, inside and out and she will be remembered by all who knew her as a friendly and warm-hearted person. Her compassion, selfless love and bright spirit lives on in our hearts and her absence leaves a void too deep for words. On Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m., a celebration of Sandra's life will be held in Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., with Rev. Pat Wotten officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Mama.....we love you all the way up to the moon Sandra's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
