Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRUCE MCEWEN PATERSON April 11, 1918 to December 13, 2005 Following a period of failing health, it is with deep sorrow that the family of Bruce McEwen Paterson announces the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 87 years. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Dorothy of 63 years; daughter Gail (Mitch); sons, Ted (Karen) and Don (Susan), all of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Jeff (Rhonda), Shaunna, Jennifer (Chris), Jayne (Dan), Kelley (Patrick), Melanie (Ian) and Shelley (Nolan); great-grandchildren, Sydney, Jordan, Cole, Myah and Nathaniel; sister Margaret; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Winnipeg on April 11, 1918, and attended Luxton Elementary and St. Johns Technical Schools. While attending Luxton he met Dorothy and they became school sweethearts. They were married on February 14, 1942. He was employed by the Greater Winnipeg Gas Company for 45 years (1936 to 1981), a career he was very proud of. After his retirement, he and Dorothy enjoyed 18 years in their winter getaway, Yuma, AZ. They always looked forward to seeing their circle of friends at the Arby Acres Retirement Community. Summers were spent with family and friends in Winnipeg, and as a Mason of the Dormor Lodge. Bruce was a loving husband, father and, affectionately known as Poppa, to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His keen sense of humour will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Mel Harper, Mel Jenkins, Jeff Kozuska, Keith Phillips, Peter Rumak and Ian Ward. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19 at 12:30 p.m., with viewing at 12:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Suite 500, 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the sky. All is well, safely rest, safely rest, all is well. Fading light dims the sight, And a star gems the sky, Gleaming bright from afar, Drawing nigh, falls the night. Dear one, rest! Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
