PATTIE WIENER (nee HOBMAN) March 17, 1923 - December 13, 2005 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Pattie Wiener. She was predeceased by her husband George Wiener in 1969; and is survived by her loving daughters and best friends, Pat Stasiuk (Michael) and children, Christopher and Allison and from Edmonton, Carol Neary (Roy) and children, Suzanne (Jordan) and Jennifer (Dave) and great-grandson Owen and also honorary grandson Steve Schmalz. Mom was born on March 17, 1923, in York, England, the youngest of seven children of Henry and Annie Hobman. During the war she met George whom she married in 1945 and then moved to Canada as a war bride. Being an Air Force wife led to living all over Canada from coast to coast as well as four years in Germany. Mom's greatest love was always her home and family to whom she was truly devoted and nothing made her happier than puttering around her little yard on Waterford Ave. Mom worked for many years at the University of Manitoba, first at the Library and mainly in the Home Economics Department. She also worked for several years at the Kiwanis Centre for the Deaf. After a long battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis she moved to Marina Del Rey where she quickly made many friends. Ill health made it necessary for her to live out her final days first at Golden Door and then at Meadowood Manor under wonderful and loving care. To know her was to love her and a kinder, gentler soul never walked the earth, she will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the Meadowood staff so much for their kindness and compassion and a special thanks to Sandra, her former homecare worker who was always wonderfully kind to her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Meadowood Manor, 575 St. Anne's Rd., with a reception to follow. Interment will follow at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Goodbye Mom, We Love You THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD.
