ANNY RISCHER (GUENTHER)

ANNY RISCHER (nee GUENTHER) December 14, 1912 - December 10, 2005 Passed away peacefully on December 10, 2005, at Donwood Manor at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband Helmut in 1971; her brother Dr. Henry Guenther; and her grandson Robert Peters. She leaves to mourn her children, Helmut (Joyce) from Minneapolis, Astrid (Tony Peters) from Portage la Prairie, Paul (Carol) from San Diego and Carla (George Toews) from Rosenort; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her two sisters, Mrs. Olly Dick (Rudy) and Betty Guenther. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her God, her family, church and community. Music was a large part of family life and she encouraged us children to maximize these gifts. Mom and dad enjoyed many summers at the cottage in Laclu, ON, and later camping in the Whiteshell. Hospitality was a given in our home and many enjoyed her wonderful baking, especially at Christmas. Her faith has carried her through the good and tough times and she often thanked God for His goodness to her. She was a charter member of South End Mennonite Brethren Church. We as a family extend sincere thanks to Donwood Manor for their compassionate and excellent care given these past two and a half years. Family interment will be held prior to the service. A memorial service will be held on December 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Anny's memory to the Gideons'.
