MARY BASL Peacefully with her family by her side, Mary Basl passed away December 13, 2005, at the age of 75. Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 1989; and her son Tom in 2003. Left to mourn her passing is her son Karl; daughters, Joanne, Irene (Marc), Maria (Lindsay); along with her grandchildren, Marty, Derek, Graeme and Jessica. Mary was born February 17, 1930, in Idria, Gorizia (Italy). She then came to Canada in 1951 and made Winnipeg her home. She met and married her husband John in 1960. Shortly thereafter they decided to raise a family together. Mary decided to be a stay at home mother and provided wonderful memories for her children. Mary was an avid wrestling fan. She had a great fondness for animals especially dogs. She enjoyed going for long walks, reading and knitting. Mary was a loving grandmother and made the most of her time with her grandchildren. Due to complications with diabetes, Mary resided at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre in 2004. Mary enjoyed her stay where she got the utmost care and support. She thoroughly enjoyed her family visits and outings. Special thanks to the staff at KPCC, especially Jack for his kindness and compassion, also thanks to Dr. Hamm and the nurses at the Concordia Hospital for the special care and support through this difficult time. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mom you were a heart of gold and will be missed immensely. Until we meet again. Love your family.
