Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM RAYMOND BROSCHUK (RAY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Raymond Broschuk. Peacefully with his family by his side, Ray passed away in his sleep on December 14, 2005 at the age of 53, at the Riverview Health Centre. Ray was predeceased by his father William (1974), mother Mary (1992), brother Steve (1999), and brother-in-law Larry (1982). He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane; daughters, Lindsay and Erin (Matt); stepchildren, Dwayne (Nadine), Kerry, Megan; granddaughter Hannah; beloved brother/best friend Elmer (Louella); sisters, Florence (Don), Marlene; nieces and nephews, Tim (Joanna), Kimberley (Guylene), Stephen (Corinna), Debbie (Mike), Lori (Mark), Don (Cathy), and Stacey (Kevin); aunt and uncles, cousins, great nephews and nieces too numerous to mention, and friends who all held a close spot in his heart. Ray worked for MTS for 34 years. Throughout his career he held positions in Residential Installation and Repair, PBX Installation, and in 1989 acquired a consultant position in the BICS Department, later moving into his present position as Cabling Consultant. Ray was part of the Union Committee for IBEW, Curling Delegate for the Trans Canada Telephone Employee Curling Association, a devoted member of the East St. Paul Lions, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215. He was an avid curler. He was on the curling circuit for many years. Curling was his love in life. He represented Manitoba at the TCTECA in Vancouver and Saskatchewan. He won the Lions Provincial Bonspiel hosted in Swan Lake, and numerous bonspiels throughout Manitoba. Ray loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and barbecuing. Fishing was always a challenge, he never caught much, but the stories were great. Barbecuing was another favourite. When family and friends visited, his infamous Roast would always be on the spigot. Ray was known for his kind heart, smile, and ability to make you laugh and feel always welcome. He would always go out of his way to give a helping hand. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and health care staff at the Riverview Health Centre, and St. Boniface Hospital. Their compassion and loving care extraordinaire were greatly appreciated. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m., at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, R3L 9Z9.
