HARRY HALLIDAY Peacefully on December 16, 2005, Harry passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 91 years. Harry is survived by his daughter Jean (Ken) Deshauer of Montreal; son Gary (Lori) of Markham, ON; grandchildren, Stephen and Darren Deshauer, Dana Halliday and Keith Needham; great-grandchild Tyrone Deshauer; 3 sisters; Anne, Nettie (Allan), Kay and brother-in-law Fred Bernett of Keswick, ON. He was predeceased by his wife Nellie; parents, Michael and Ann; brothers, Bill, Steven; sister Alice. Harry was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1914. He met his wife Nellie, and they married in 1940. During the Second World War, he served with the army between 1943 and 1946 in the Caribbean area. Upon his return, Harry, Nellie and daughter Jean resided at 90 Chandos Street in Norwood until 1950 when they built their present home. Harry was employed as driver with Winnipeg Transit for 39 years until he retired in August 1979, holding Driver Badge #1. One of Harry's favourite pastimes was attending the races at Assiniboia Downs, with father Michael and sister Kay. He also enjoyed planting the backyard vegetable garden, and woodworking of which he took several courses. Both Harry and Nellie enjoyed summer vacation time visiting relatives in Canada and USA. They also made frequent car trips to Minneapolis and Grand Forks, ND. Harry recently visited Gary and Lori's home in Markham, where he had an enjoyable time sight seeing in Toronto, and managed to visit brother-in-law Fred. Harry will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who know and loved him. The family would like to thank the Dr. Patel, Ruth Zetner, social worker, and the staff of Floor 3, Unit 1 of Seven Oaks Hospital, for their care, compassion and support. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Alan Armstrong as officiant. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harry's memory to the Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency Department Fund. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
