Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA MARTENS Peacefully on December 15, 2005, Patricia Martens passed away at the age of 75 at the Victoria General Hospital. Her husband John Martens, sister Barbara and daughter-in-law Cindy predeceased her. She will be sadly missed by her children, Jim (Margaret), Doug, Tom (Gayle), Karen (Kevin); sister Linda; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Rachel, Jennifer, Ryan, Jordan and Tyler. Pat was born in Winnipeg on December 23, 1929 where she lived most of her life. She met and married John Martens and together they raised four children. Pat worked at the Victoria General Hospital for several years; first in the Admitting Department and then for the Pastoral Care Department. She moved on to other jobs until she decided to retire early from work in 1987 to spend more time with her grandchildren. Pat's greatest joy was to be around her family and friends. She had many friends and thoroughly enjoyed social gatherings, family holidays and spending time with her grandchildren. She also volunteered her time to the Golden Rule Seniors at the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre. Her outgoing personality and friendly spirit allowed her to join many clubs and committees throughout her life. She was appreciated for her companionship, her infectious humour and uncanny wit. Throughout Pat's life, she also had a passion for sports, old movies and musicals. Her love of these leisure activities was passed on to her children and her grandchildren. Most importantly, Pat taught everyone around her that family and being around people are the greatest value in life and that everything else was secondary. We will sorely miss our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Pat's family would like to invite those who wish to send floral tributes to do so and those that would prefer are welcome to make a donation in Pat's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
