ANNA LEDUKE Peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Oakview Extendicare, Anna passed away at the age of 96 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her only loving grandson Bruce Wright, of Coquitlam, BC and many nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her only daughter Margaret in 1979, her first husband Karl Sibian in 1944, her second husband Alex LeDuke in 1967 and all her six sisters and only brother. Anna was born on April 16, 1909 on the family homestead in Gardenton in the municipality of Stuartburn, MB and came to Winnipeg as a young girl. After working as a domestic for several years she married Carl and they started a business growing vegetables and flowers. In the 1950s Anna was often seen selling her glads along Portage Avenue. After Carl passed away, she married Alex LeDuke on May 30, 1959. She supported her husband's construction business and after he passed on she continued her interest in people by extensive touring to Mexico, Cuba, India, Trinidad, Poland, Hawaii and mainland United States. Anna also enjoyed ballroom dancing and gardening as long as she was able. She came to Oakview four years ago where she was well looked after. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all the nurses and health care staff for their compassion and care. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Sturgeon Creek United church, 207 Thompson Dr., in St. James. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
