LENA MATTSON (KOWALCHUK) June 18, 1907 - December 14, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lena Mattson, a loving Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, at the age of 98 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB. Her heart was full of love and kindness and she passed peacefully, surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Phyllis (Otto); her sons Jim (Edna), Ronny, Ralph and daughter-in-law Doris, Carl (Gwen); her grandchildren Tanya (Ron), Kim (Marvin), Heidi (Wayne), Susan (she'll meet in heaven) (John), Karen (Gerald), Dale, Garry (Sharon), Lisa-Jane (Darren) and Heather Anne. Special memories are held by her great grandchildren Cailee, Noah, Stephanie, Amanda, Chris, Anna, Samantha (Cal), Jeremy (Tamara), Corey, Matthew, Sean, Eric and Kaden. We would also like to remember and thank all of Lena's other family members and friends who visited and called while she was in Winnipeg and Calgary. It meant so much to her. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Unit 54 at Peter Lougheed Hospital for all their help and kindness. Cremation has taken place in Calgary where a family remembrance will be held. She will be returned to Winnipeg in the spring where a family memorial and interment will take place. She loved all animals and will be missed by many loving pets also. She always had a lap available, even for big Stormy. Donations may be made to the Winnipeg or Calgary Humane Society on her behalf if you so wish.
