KATHLEEN JANE MORRISSETTE (nee SMITH) 1925 - 2005 It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our wife and mother, Kathleen, at Riverview Health Centre on Sunday, December 18, 2005. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband Gerard; her children, Bryan (Pat), Geraldine (Eldon Thiessen), Sheryl (Dwayne Banworth) and Susan (Dan Lang); her sisters, Sharon Rousselle and Cheryl Davison. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Andrea (Andrew Dixon), Jackie (Ian Hillmer), Michael, Vanessa, Mathew, Chris, Ryan, Rachel, Jennifer (Jeremy Vallance) and Charlie, numerous nieces and nephews and two great-grandsons (Gabriel and Owen). Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Jean Smith; and three of her children, Jimmy, Diana and Bud. Kathleen was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Victoria Albert, Hugh John McDonald and Daniel McIntyre schools. After graduation she began working at the Air Force base refuelling airplanes during the end of the war. She raised her family and then returned to work as a filing clerk for Unemployment Insurance. She also worked part time at Eatons, as did so many others. She retired at 60 from McKnight's Drug Store where she worked as a cashier. Her favourite pastimes were curling, bowling, knitting and reading. She knit many sweaters for kids and adults alike and a good mystery was her favourite type of book. Sandy Hook was her holiday place and the cabin that she and Gerry built is still very important to her family. Kathleen's children and grandchildren were the mainstay of her life - family first, she was always there for them and loved being with them. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre 2C for their care and concern over the past year. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road, with viewing one half hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
