PENNY RIDGE September 24, 1946 - December 18, 2005 Penny touched many in a full life, sadly shortened by Ovarian Cancer. Teaching in both rural and urban settings in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Penny recently retired from Springfield Collegiate in Oakbank. Friends and relatives mourn the passing of a strong willed, compassionate and outgoing person who entertained, educated and plied us with great cooking and baking. Especially sad are Cooper, brother Peter and his wife Janine, Penny's much loved nephews, Clark and Fraser in Vancouver and mom Peggy in Toronto. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held January 16, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Oxford Heights Community Club, 359 Dowling Ave. In lieu of flowers, Penny requested donations be made to the Cancer Research Society, 305-200 Isabella St., Ottawa, ON K1S 1V7, www.cancerresearchsociety.ca. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. 668-3151

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am very sadden to learn of the loss of Penny. While I only knew Penny from a distance, I very much enjoyed her communication(s) and spirit of life, living and being. Earlier this year, Penny was happy to submit her ovarian cancer story for publication on the Ontario Women's Health Network. It can be found at: http://www.owhn.on.ca/ebulletin_winter_2004.html#n. Although for only a short period of time, Penny also joined our online ovarian cancer support group (http://www.acor.org) and I do know that her contributions are remembered with fondness. A life well lived and one of which I admired and respected. - Posted by: Sandi Pniauskas (Acquaintance) on: Dec 21, 2005
