CHARLES RIOUX It is with heavy hearts and great felt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charles Rioux on December 18, 2005. Just last weekend, he was out dancing with his wife Emilie of 48 years, and having a wonderful time. Charles will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Emilie (nee Larocque); his children, Marie-Ange Roy (Rob), Antoine (Darlene), Paulette Jackson (Larry) and Veronique Gaudry (Marcel). He will also be missed by his grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Nicholas Roy (special friend Rebecca), Collin Roy (special friend Nicole), Nathalie Roy (special friend Steve), Raymond Gaudry, Richard Gaudry and Kevin Jackson, whom will be honorary pallbeabers. Charles, the eldest child, born on November 6, 1935 to Eugene Rioux and Marie-Ange (nee Trudeau) on a farm in St. Pierre-Jolys. The lord had decided that Charles' journey in life, would not be an easy one. He lost his mother at the age of 13 and his father two years later. Being of strong Christian faith, Charles' mission in life was to keep his family together, because it was the most important gift he could give to his deceased parents. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Lucien (Doris), Jean-Marie (Rolande), Eugene (Judy); his sisters, Yvonne (Denis Champagne), Monique Lajoie, and Pauline Tucker; his sister-in-law Carmelle Rioux. He is also lovingly remembered by his many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant sister Marie; his parent's stepmother Therese; brothers, Leon, Gerard and his wife Priscille; his brothers-in-law, Ron Tucker and Arthur Lajoie. With every passing in Charles' family, it took a piece of his soil away. Charles moved to the city at the age of 17 looking for a job. He found employment with Bockstael Construction. Charles never had to move on, because Mr. Robert Bockstael took to Charles and was a father figure to him. Throughout 45 years as a devoted employee, Charles got along with all of his co-workers, which were many. Charles met Emilie and fell head over heels in love. They were married on May 17, 1958. With his wife they raised four children. He always reminded his children that people were valuable and not their possessions. Faith was very important to Charles and Emilie, they attended mass every Sunday whether it was a la Cathedrale, Holy Family or in St. Malo while they were at the cottage. Charles was a small man with a huge heart, everyone who met him knew he was special. He visited sick people in the hospital and nursing homes...He never forgot his friends. Charles would want his friends to come and celebrate his life, because he was proud of the life he had on this earth. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the caring staff of the St. Boniface General Hospital I.C.U. ward. A special thanks to his compassionate nurse Christine, you were an angel, Father Lanoie, you aspirated the true meaning of being Christian, Fr. Ron Leger who came to say a prayer, Dr. Jose Francois, nothing kept you away because you value all your patients. Dr. Danni Brown, you were a hero and an advocate for the family. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, in memory of Charles to support his wife who was diagnosed with cancer in February of this year. Charles mon epoux de 48 ans, je t'aimerai toujours! Papa - tu etais notre hero, on t'aime enormement! Pepere - le meilleur pepere du monde. L'Amour est pour toujours. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22 at la Cathedrale de Saint-Boniface, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale.
