RUDY H. COMEAULT September 6, 1940 - December 17, 2005 It is with much sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, dad and friend, Rudy, at the Grace General Hospital, on Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the age of 65 years. Remaining to mourn and cherish Rudy's memory are his loving wife Gladys; his two children, Robert and Suzanne; his mother Emilie; five brothers, Marcel, Gilles, Guy, Gerald and Norman; and sisters, Claudette and Beth. The Jolly Frenchman will also be sadly missed by Gladys' family. He was predeceased by his father Charles; an infant brother and sister; and his father-in-law Henry Thiessen. Rudy was born at the St-Boniface Hospital to Charles and Emilie (Beaudry) Comeault. He grew up on the family farm near St-Jean and completed his pre-graduate studies at Otterburn College. Rudy then graduated with a diploma in Business Administration at Red River College and went on to prosper in management. He was passionate about his many professional endeavours. Rudy served with Canadian Pacific Airlines in the 1960s. He is best known for his 25 plus years involvement in the co-operative housing movement. His many contributions to the Co-op sector include serving as General Manager for two area Co-ops, a consultant for several national Co-ops, a director for the Co-op he called home, a committee member of the Co-op Housing Federation, a trustee and fervent lobbyist for long-term improvements to the Co-op movement. Rudy's equally important professional ventures include service with Hostelling International. His work emphasis was always on developing strong, viable and efficient Hostelling projects at home and abroad. After his retirement in 2003, Rudy stepped in and assisted the Manitoba Co-operative Association as acting Executive Director. He was also very involved in serving on the board and on several committees at the Westminster United Church, which had become a very important part of his life. On December 28, 1985, he was united in marriage to his soul mate and love of his life, Gladys. Rudy was the happiest at his busiest with what he liked best; and at his quietest, with whom he loved best. Whether it be working hard at furthering the professional and later, church causes he believed in, tinkering around at the lake, sitting at the fire with Gladys enjoying the stillness of the night, or taking in the many sunsets at the beach of Waikiki -- he was truly happy. On Thursday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m., Rudy's funeral service will be held in Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Ave. (NW Maryland and Westminster), with Rev. Joan Jarvis and Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Our family would like to thank the ICU staff and especially, Dawn and Dr. Johann Strumpher at the Grace General Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy's memory may be made to the Westminster United Church Foundation, 745 Westminster Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1A5. We love you Dad. You will be greatly missed by all and we wish you everlasting peace. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
