GORDON ALLAN HARKINS It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Allan Harkins on December 18, 2005. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Edith (O'Brien); parents, Wilson and Rebecca; sisters, Martha, Margaret and Mona. He will always be remembered by daughters, Sharon, Colleen and Greg; son Allan (Corry); grandchildren, Garth, Lorie, Karla, Richard, Sherry, Tyler and Travis; great-granddaughter Jasmine; brothers, John and Mel; sisters, Kathy and Jean; many nieces, nephews and special lady Florence Wiebe. Our dad was born in Spear Hill on May 29, 1924. At the age of 18 he joined the Air Force. He often reminisced of England where he met and married and proudly brought back to Canada his wife Edith. Dad worked for CPR for many years and then moved on to the Winnipeg School Board where he retired as Head Caretaker of the Weston School. He will be fondly remembered for having his geraniums in classroom windows and often being introduced by the principal as the man who ran the school. The family extends many thanks to Bev LaPorte and staff at Lion's Pace Setter Club and Health Action Centre for many memorable outings and afternoons for our dad. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and health care aides for their empathy and care at the Health Sciences Centre. Please join us for a celebration of our father and grandfather's life on Friday, December 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. We'll Meet Again We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when but I'm sure we'll meet again some sunny day. Keep smiling though, just as we always do. 'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away and won't you please say hello to the folks that I know, tell them I won't be long. They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go, I was singing this song: We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day. Dad you will always be remembered for your fearlessly independent spirit and wonderful smile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, or the Alzheimer's Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis, Box 21008, 22 - 3900 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 3R2.
