FRIDA HANSON
Born: Feb 06, 1925
Date of Passing: Dec 20, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRIDA HANSON Mom's brave struggle with cancer ended in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 20, 2005. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Hugh and Mark (Silvana); granddaughters, Kristin (Bob) and Haley; grandsons, Ari and Ryan; great-granddaughter Ava; and great-grandsons, Michael, Jonah and Liam. Her husband Ejnar; daughter Bonnie; sisters, Hannah and Elsa; and brothers, Eugene, Carl and Erick, predeceased her. Born on February 6, 1925 in Nipigon, ON, Frida Erika Hanson was the fifth of six children born to Olga Eleanora Elizabeth Carlson and Johan Erick Carlson. She was a Winnipeg resident for most of her life, although she met and married Dad while living in Lac Du Bonnet. She was employed as a quality inspector at Reliance Plastics and a supervisor at Boeing of Canada Winnipeg. Her cooking and baking skills were exceptional; ditto her ability for knitting and sewing. Travel, baseball, music and reading were Mom's other passions, as well as daily phone conversations with her sister Elsa, where they discussed at length what was right and wrong with the goofy world we live in. Mom was blessed with the heart of a lion, which helped her rise to the many challenges that she faced in her life. Whenever life knocked Mom down, she bravely found a way to respond, adapting and rising up time and again. Thanks for everything that you've done for us, Mom. Words alone cannot express the level of our love and gratitude. Gracious thanks go out to the staff at the Misericordia Health Centre, the Grace Hospital and to Dr. Brian Ritchie, all of whom helped write a peaceful ending to the last chapter of Mom's life. At Mom's request, no funeral will be held. Following cremation, a family celebration of her life will take place sometime in the spring or summer of 2006. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the cancer charity of your choice or Mom's favourite charities, the CNIB or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
