Date of Passing: Dec 13, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTED SAUNDERS Peacefully, on December 13, 2005 Ted Saunders, aged 83 passed away at the Sharon Home North. Ted is survived by his loving wife Estelle; sister Maimie (Andy); grandchildren, David Blatt (Seri); great-grandchildren, Hannah Faye and Maya; nephews, Harvey and Rocky (Sharon). Ted is predeceased by his daughter Faye; parents, Morris and Clara; sister Sylvia, and brother Joseph (Annie). Ted was born on May 6, 1922 and grew up in the North-end of Winnipeg on Alfred Avenue. He graduated from St. John's High School. He served three years overseas in the Canadian Air force. When he returned home he met the love of his life - Estelle - they were married February 18, 1950. They had only one daughter - she was the love of their life - her name was Faye. In 1965 they moved to Primrose Crescent where they were fortunate to be neighbours with the Eccles family for almost 40 years. Ted worked most of his life in the garment industry. He worked at Buffalo Cap and finished his career at Doubletex. Many summers were spent at West Hawk Lake. They enjoyed traveling - starting off close to home with Detroit Lakes and Bemidji and eventually extending their sights on the Maritimes, Spain, Hawaii, and Palm Springs. Cars, bowling and dogs were some of Ted's favourite past times. Ted was a builder, he was a craftsman, and he was a handy man. Ted spent hours in his basement workshop. If he wasn't building something he was fixing it! Ted was a soft-spoken man always willing to give a helping hand. He had a very kind soul. Ted was a friend to everyone! Special thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor of Seven Oaks General Hospital and the staff at the Sharon Home North for their tender loving care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, 400-123 Doncaster, Winnipeg, MB R3N 2B3, in memory of Faye Saunders Blatt and Ted Saunders.
