Mom was born July 9, 1919, to David and Violet Trent (Craig). Predeceased by her brother Russ; and sister Birdie. Survived by her husband Hugh; daughter Joanne; son-in-law Bruce; grandsons, Stephen and Martin Hunt; nephew David Miller (Doreen); and childhood friend Marjorie Bremner - McCulloch. Mom was raised in the farming community of Brandon. She graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts degree, a rarity for a woman in 1940. Mom survived tough times during the war. Life improved when she married Hugh in 1951. Mom's joys included making our house a home, helping Joanne and Bruce raise their two sons, fellowship with the Hunt, Mackinnon, Andrayko families, the Rummoli gang, the United Church Woman's League, working for Labatt Canada, the St. James Legion, especially the card sharks, visits to Brandon, the Winnipeg Symphony and theatre, going to the beach summer and winter, traveling by bus, train or car or just walking, listening, or people watching. Mom and Dad moved to Colorado Estates in 1997, and loved their times together there and made many new friends. Mom believed in community and was proud to be Canadian. Mom loved to read and learn. Mom lived by the Ten Commandments and passed these values on to us. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 27 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment and reception to follow.
