AGNES MABEL SMITH (nee GRANT) 1927 - 2005 Peacefully, with her family at her side, Agnes passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 78 years. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1995; two daughters, Caroline in infancy and Janice in 2005; as well as seven sisters and three brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Rosalie (Bill) McGowan, Jo-Anne (Dennis) Compayre; and three sons, John (Linda) Smith, Joel (Angie) Smith and Jason (Cheryl Houle) Smith. Surviving as well are her grandsons, Colby (Nicole), Damon (Jennifer), Justin, Jarrett (Ricki), Kelsey, Joseph, Murray, Lonnie and Dallas; and one granddaughter Paige; her great-granddaughter Cassidy; and four great-grandsons, John, Jeremy, Cole and Boston; her sisters, Maxine Thomas and Yvonne Neill; as well as many nieces and nephews. Agnes was born in the RM of St. Clements on January 4, 1927; she grew up in Beaconia, MB. After moving to Winnipeg in her teens she met and married John in 1945 after he served in the Second World War. Together they raised their family in north Winnipeg. She took great pride in her home and her children. Agnes was a very hard worker and always worked outside the home, first as a waitress for many, many years and then at Athletes Wear. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers. She was also an excellent card player and much to Dad's dismay she could beat him in most card games, although he would never openly admit it. They spent many a happy Sunday, picnicing with family at Patricia Beach. It was one of her favourite places, and she was very knowledgeable about native bird species and flowers of the area. She was also an excellent cook and Sunday dinners at Mum and Dad's, were often the highlight of our week. A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin St., on Wednesday, December 28 at 1:00 p.m., interment at Brookside Cemetery, with a reception following the interment at the Lincoln Hotel, 1030 McPhillips St. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3E 0V9 or Heart Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., R3L 0K6. Mum, we miss you, but we know that you are at rest and reunited with Dad KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331

Granny, Thank you for always showing love to my Attley family and for raising daddy to love me no matter what. Miss Faye always has amazing stories about you that; no matter what mood I’m in they make me laugh and smile. Apparently we both like saying “I just want to be left alone” and I love that. Because that is my new life motto. 😊 I’ve been thinking of you tons lately and it’s helped me make some important life decisions. Literally quit my job that treated my like shit yesterday; because something was telling me you wouldn’t be cool with that. Anyways I love and miss you tons. Look after our sweet Kelsey. We love you! 💜 - Posted by: Paige Smith (Granddaughter) on: Mar 02, 2025
