ABRAM DOERKSEN Abram Doerksen, aged 88 years of Altona, MB and formerly of Sommerfeld, MB passed away at the Altona Health Care Centre on December 23, 2005. Abram Doerksen was born May 31, 1917 in the Altona District, to David and Elisabeth Doerksen. On September 19, 1946 he was married to Aganetha Friesen and was baptized at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church. Abe followed in his father's footsteps, farming was his life. He and Nettie resided three miles North East of Sommerfeld for 16 years, and in 1963 they moved to the village of Sommerfeld and in 1986 retired in Altona. Abe was always very supportive and showed great interest in all family matters. Two of his favourite pastimes were fishing and socializing in the coffee shop. Abe has left to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Nettie, of 59 years of marriage; three children, Edwin, Virginia and Raymond. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Albert in 1966 and his daughter Irene in 2000. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Altona, with interment to follow in the Altona Cemetery. Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona on Tuesday, December 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. In memory of Abe Doerksen donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba and or to CancerCare Manitoba. The family wishes to thank everyone for caring and sharing with them. A heartfelt thanks you to Rev. Abe W. Klassen and all those participating in the funeral, and all, for their support. In loving memory of a dear husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
