PETER HLADUN Peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Freeport Health Centre in Kitchener, ON, at the age of 83. Beloved father of Donna Lesia and her husband Dr. Jim Thompson of Guelph. Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife Wilma in 2002. Peter was born in Horodok, Poland on July 26, 1922, and came to Canada in 1938. He served in the R.C.A.F. at Gimli, MB during the Second World War and married Wilma Hudyma in 1946. Peter and Wilma resided at 404 Dalton St. in Winnipeg for over 30 years. Peter worked as a carpenter for Canadian Aviation Electronics (CAE) for 25 years and also started his own business - PH Woodworking. Wilma worked as a secretary in the records department of the Winnipeg Police Services for over 20 years. In 1963, Peter founded the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. He directed Rusalka for over ten years. Coach was much beloved by all the dancers, including daughter Donna. In 1982, Peter and Wilma moved to Guelph, ON, to be closer to their daughter and family. They had been married for 56 years when Wilma died on December 21, 2002, in her 81st year. Peter will be sadly missed by daughter Donna, son-in-law Dr. Jim, only grandson Jamie, and five granddaughters Ashley, Mandira, Devi, Chantel and Kaitlin; and sister-in-law Sylvia Bellingham, and two nieces, Susan and Cathie, of Toronto. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service for Peter will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville.
