JOHN SCHOOFS It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of John Schoofs on December 25, 2005, at the age of 72 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years Truus, his daughters, Margaret (George) Young and Lisa Hoglander and his two sons, Louis (Lisa) Schoofs and David (Lynne) Schoofs. He was a loving grandfather to Zachary, Colin, Rachel and Daniel John. His memory will be cherished by his siblings, Helena Schoofs, Drina (Louis) Nellissen, Tony (Peter) Vosters, Cora (Herb) Verwymeren, Anne (Ted) Fleerakkers of Englehart, ON, Bill Schoofs, Louis (Anne) Schoofs and Terry (Bill) Jansen. He also will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric and Agnes Groot, Casey and Tony Groot, Jack and Kathy Groot, Nellie Groot, Joan Groot, Tina and Mike Bonecamp, Greta and John Vanderzweep of San Jose, CA, Bill and Evelyn Groot, Tom and Alice Groot and Joe and Georgina Groot. He leaves behind his close friend and cousin Janus Schoofs and his wife Riek of the Netherlands. He is predeceased by his sister Katy and her husband Herman Fritschy, sister-in-law Gisselle Schoofs and by his brothers-in-law, George and Peter Groot. John was born in Bladel, Holland on July 14, 1933. He, along with his family immigrated to Canada when John was 21 years old. On September 27, 1958, he married the love of his life, Truus Groot, together they built a home and raised a family of four children. John was well respected in the construction industry, building a reputation as a hard working and honest painting contractor. He enjoyed a well-deserved retirement, spending time with his wife, working in his garden and taking time with his loving family and friends. There will be a celebration of John's life at Wheeler Funeral Chapel and Reception Centre, 701 Regent Ave. W. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29.
