Born: Apr 03, 1931
Date of Passing: Dec 24, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTED LUCKO (RETIRED RCMP) 1931-2005 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew and friend. On Saturday, December 24, 2005, Ted passed away with family by his side, at the Concordia Hospital. Ted will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Mary of 51 years, his six children, and their families, Patricia (Bill) Brokke, Laura, Crystal; Lynda (Doug) Krampetz, Jeffrey, Carly, Kevin; Angela (Bill) Loftus, Shawn, Matthew, Colin, Ryan; Brian (Claire) Lucko, Robin (Helen); Raymond (Maureen) Lucko, Christiana, Amy, Aaron; Doreen (Randy) Enns, Steven, Lisa. Ted also leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers, Emil (Georgette); Gerald (Diane); Mickey (Emily); Andy (Helen); Terry (Sharon) Goral, as well as his Aunt Nettie Watsko and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ted was predeceased by his father (Michal), mother (Doris), step-father (Michael Goral), sister (Sylvia), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dad was born on the family farm in Eastdale, MB on April 3, 1931. He was the oldest of seven children and helped to raise his siblings when his father passed away in 1944. He attended Hazelridge School. Dad proudly served as a member of the RCMP, joining in 1951. He was stationed in Edmonton in 1952, where he met Mary, who became the love of his life. They were transferred to Ottawa in 1954 and finally to Winnipeg in 1956, where they have resided for the last 49 years. Dad retired in 1980, as Sergeant at D Division. Following in his footsteps, as RCMP, were his three brothers, Gerald, Andy and Terry, son Raymond and daughter-in-law, Maureen. Dad began his second career after retirement and returned to his roots as a farmer on the old homestead in Eastdale. He kept very busy with many activities over the years, including competitive target shooting, wine making, beekeeping, hunting, fishing, real estate, tree farming, berry/mushroom picking, organic farming/gardening, and more recently Lucky Lucko at the casino. Cottage life, at Red Deer Lake, brought numerous, cherished memories over the last 30 years. Family and tradition were very important to Dad. He was very proud of his children and 15 grandchildren, whose visits always brought him great joy. We were truly blessed to have extended years of love and memories with Dad when, in 1999, he underwent heart surgery. Over the last years, Mary, Patricia, Lynda and Doreen gave him unending love, support and care. Mom, especially, was Dad's angel who watched over him. His strength and stubbornness persevered for six years, until he was called to his eternal home, complete with a recliner, remote, slot machine and foot massager. To all our family and friends, thank you for all of your expressions of love, sympathy and caring at this difficult time. Special thank you to the numerous doctors and nurses, who have been wonderful care givers. We thank you for all your help, compassion and kindness. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 30, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church with viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow and interment will be held at Eastdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's memory, may be made to Concordia Hospital (funds towards a blanket warmer), 1095 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S8 or to Chronic Leukemia Research, c/o Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. He was a good man! I have often recalled with fondness a winter Saturday in the late fifties when I followed a moose track in an attempt to see if I could push the animal pass Ted on post - he armed me with his RCMP revolver - my grandchildren have heard of this story. May God's spirit comfort you at this time of sorrow and may you rejoice in the promises God has given to us. - Posted by: Henry J Esau (Acquaintance) on: Dec 29, 2005
